Finding Your Dream Home

It doesn't matter if your dream home is a simple loft in an urban area or a luxury estate manor in the suburbs, you are sure to find what you dream of while searching Jackson, Missouri real estate listings. Therefore, it rests with you to figure out what you want out of your dream home before you start looking or you'll be inundated with choices. Do you want a chrome-and-class modern marvel similar to the Toronto condos and lofts you saw on your vacation in Ontario? A sprawling ranch-style home like your cousin has in New Mexico? Ask yourself these simple questions to figure out what you're looking for.

How Many People?

The number of people living in the house is the primary factor in figuring out the size of home you'll need. If you and your children were so crammed into two bedrooms that you put up your house for sale in Scarborough, your Jackson dream home will need to have at least three. A good measure is one bedroom for each person including spouse so you'll have a guest room for visiting relatives. When it comes to bathrooms, for every three people it's advised that you have at least one bathroom. In some cases half-baths can suffice for a second bathroom, but if you all leave the house at the same time in the morning you probably want two full ones.

Rural or urban?

The kind of lifestyle you intend to lead will help you choose which neighborhood is the best location for your dream home in Jackson. If you're an urbanite at heart who loves to window shop, eat out, and walk to work, you're going to want to live downtown. However, if the thought of endless honking traffic, crowded bistros, and acres of blistering pavement makes you sick, you might be better off commissioning some one storey house plans and purchasing a forested lot on the outskirts of the city.

Do I want a yard or any special features?

Deciding whether or not you want a yard will help eliminate a lot of the extra listings in your realtor's databank. Some people, like those used to living in Brampton homes, find it intolerable not to be able to garden on the weekends, while other more urban-oriented people don't want the hassle of mowing the lawn. Some other features you should decide on before you start looking at houses include: fireplaces, basements, driveways, garages, decks, and swimming pools. When shopping for condos, you'll be looking for building features like: parking, fitness centers, laundry, balconies, and whether there's an elevator or not.

What's my budget?

This is a biggie. Your budget combined with the size of home you need will dictate which neighborhoods are open to you. Obviously we'd all like to own at some point in our life a place like the
homes in Princess Ann Manor but it's just not within our means. To figure out how large of a mortgage you can handle, shop around to banks and see what they will offer you with monthly payments at or lower than 30% of your monthly household income.
