Factory Jobs

When it comes to a great place to live, beautiful scenery and neighborhoods are not always enough, particularly not in today's uncertain economy. Those looking to buy Jackson real estate want to know that they will be able to take care of their investments and their families. The best way to do this is by taking advantage of a strong and diverse economic base. Jackson's economy includes participation in all major sectors, from front end banking operations to factory jobs repairing blow through valves. Let's take a look at a few of the industrial and manufacturing jobs you can find in Jackson.

Automotive

In a time when many cities in North America are losing their automobile manufacturing business, Jackson is increasing the presence of this sector. While you won't find the big North American dealers here (at least not yet) you will find several state of the art plants built by foreign companies. Particularly of note is the new Nissan plant, which has committed long term to the area with a $930 million facility which includes Allis Chalmers pump parts and various other types of state of the art equipment.

Metal

A nice central location has always meant that Jackson enjoys a spot as one of the most important centers of industrial metal working in the nation. Both primary and fabricated metal products are made in the city.

Primary products are those made directly from the unworked metal. They may be shipped to the factory straight from the mine, or have been melted down from previous goods. The metals are smelted or refined and then used for castings and other very basic metal products.

Fabricated metal, on the other hand, refers to the shaping or joining of metal into value added products. In factories of this type, you may find work as a welder or working a hand notcher, transforming raw metal into recognizable product.

Timber

The timber industry has enjoyed a recent boom in the Jackson area, one which extends from raw to value added goods. There are sawmills located along the pearl which turn out tons of plywood and building lumber each year. There are also several furniture plants, complete with state of the art woodworking machinery, which have located in the area thanks to the open courtship of the municipal government.

Agriculture

It should come as no surprise that the historically strong agricultural sector continues to enjoy a strong presence in Jackson and the surrounding area today. Many of the goods from outside communities and farms including cotton and poultry are processed within the city. Factories prepare and preserve the goods, which are then packaged together with ratchet straps and shipped out to the international market.

All in all, the prospects for factory employment in the Jackson area remain strong, despite the nation's economic woes. Jackson's main plants are those which supply basic needs to the country and indeed to the international markets, built mostly by companies who have long term sustainability. It's a good place to find well paying work.
